BORGOFUTURO SOCIAL CAMP # 3
A SPACE FOR ECOLOGY AND SOCIABILITY
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_column_text]The third chapter of the Social Camp is here. From the 3rd to the 5th of July we will meet in Ripe San Ginesio (MC) for three days of workshops, groups and discussions, that will culminate with the weekend festival (6 and 7 of July).
Here below the 3 cycles 2019:
The aim of the politicization of the ecological debate cycle is to rethink the crisis, tracing back the political roots and consequences of the environmental discourse. In environmental activism and global politics we will dive into the territorial mobilizations that have affected our continent in the last months. In internal areas and ecosystem services the essential role played by natural capital in human society takes central stage, delving into our perception of the surrounding territory.
As always, sharing practices will be central to the Social Camp, with a folk dance workshop, yoga and meditation sessions, the construction of a collective mural and many activities for kids in the Kindergarten.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row section_background=”color” background_color=”#ffffff”][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_empty_space height=”22px”][vc_column_text css_animation=”right-to-left”]T1 – POLITICIZATION OF THE ECOLOGICAL DEBATE
The climate issue is a popular theme within political debates and ecological conscience is taking more and more space within individual people’s daily actions. But the belief that we can “be the change we want to see” contributes to a process of individualisation of blame and action. This simultaneously hides the real responsibilities of our production system on the planet and neutralises the potential of a radically ecological and democratic conflict. To recognise the crucial role played by ecology in the fate of the planet we have to move away from the candid vision of environmentalism and rebuild our vision from its intrinsically political roots.
We will do this first of all by addressing problematic categories such as Anthropocene, capitalocene and nature. We will rethink our relationship with animals towards a political criticism of speciesism. We will link the ecological and the democratic crisis, looking for real experiences of radical and eco-political regeneration.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_btn title=”Explore the programme” color=”turquoise” align=”center” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fborgofuturo.net%2Fen%2Fpoliticization%2F|title:Politicization||”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text css_animation=”right-to-left”]T2 – ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVISM AND GLOBAL POLITICS
In the past months, the awareness of climate issues has generated mass mobilisations and new forms of environmental activism. Different actions in different contexts have managed to subvert the generic diffidence towards environmental defense practices, and to obtain concrete victories. From stopping the clearing of the Hambach forest to the declaration of a climate emergency in the UK, different activisms have built towards a shared political message. We will reflect on the toolbox used by different activist groups, considering the replicability of local experiences.
The social camp dedicates this space to the climate mobilisations in Brussels and the civil disobedience of Ende Gelande, looking at the global breadth that each of these carries, to find within specific struggles the trace of a necessary perspective of common change.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_btn title=”Explore the programme” color=”turquoise” align=”center” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fborgofuturo.net%2Fen%2Fenvironmental-activism%2F%20|title:Politicization||”][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text css_animation=”right-to-left”]T3 – INNER AREAS AND ECOSYSTEM SERVICES
Inner areas are those that are characterized by a significant distance from the main centres offering essential services, including health, education and collective mobility. In the face of today’s environmental questions, this definition necessarily takes on a partial and relative meaning. In a global picture of intense urbanisation and strong degradation of terrestrial ecosystem, the services linked to the natural capital of the territory become essential. Thus, inner areas, notoriously characterised by a high availability of environmental resources, become essential in order to provide important ecosystem services. These include those supporting life and sustenance, such as the production of food and potable water, the regulation of both climate and tides and cultural services, including aesthetic, spiritual and recreational ones.
This path addresses the topic through a series of practical and theoretical workshops, starting from a presentation of the framework of ecosystem services and culminating with an activity where the perception of the territory between the towns of Ripe San Ginesio and Colmurano will be mapped.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_btn title=”Explore the programme” color=”turquoise” align=”center” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fborgofuturo.net%2Fen%2Finner_areas%2F|title:Inner%20areas%20and%20ecosystem%20services||”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text css_animation=”right-to-left”]
Side activities
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”22px”][vc_column_text css_animation=”right-to-left”]Body and Voice – Folk dances and singing
On Wednesday, July 3 Massimiliano Di Carlo guides us his workshop of singing in reverse. Reversing the conventional aesthetic canons, Max will guide us on a journey between body and voice, in which we will discover vocal styles and ancient musical modes, rich in microtones and unpredictable improvisational possibilities.
On Friday, July 5th we will open the dances with Marco Meo: we will free our bodies to the pressing rhythm of accordion and tambourine. We will discover, step by step, the strength of the Saltarello della Val d’Aso, a coreutic form from ancient origins, which survived in our valleys without strong generational interruptions.
With Massimiliano De Carlo, musician and researcher, he moves from the conservatory to the study of traditional music. His activity is concentrated in the geographical area between Ascoli Piceno, Teramo and Amatrice and is based on the daily attendance of local elders, bearers of knowledge of the repertoire, consultation of the archives and the continuous dialogue with ethnomusicologists.
And with Marco Meo, nephew of a ‘peasant poet’ and an ‘encyclopaedia’ of the ‘stornello’ singing, she founded ‘Lu Trainanà’, a folk music group that recovers the repertoire of traditional songs from Macerata, and collaborates with various popular and folk groups in the area. He continues to sing and play, never ceasing to look for words, stories and songs from those who still carry the tradition and history of his land.

Directly from Galicia, the artistic collective Espacio Matrioska is running a workshop of participated murals: we will paint a wall of the Sports Hall trying to narrate Ripe and its inhabitants![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”22px”][vc_column_text css_animation=”right-to-left”]Painting on Ceramics
The potter from Ripe, Claudia, takes us on a ‘concrete’ walk through the alleys of the village in search of inspiration: we will paint the dishes she created in the last pottery workshop “Terre d’arte” and we will find a space in which to place them in the historic center.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”22px”][vc_column_text css_animation=”right-to-left”]Meditation at WabiSabi Centre
We will move away to the WabiSabi Centre in San Ginesio, a unique place of Zen culture, for a meditative experience that awakens the nature of our mind.
Serenella leads us into a guided meditation session in the Gompa temple of her centre.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”22px”][vc_column_text css_animation=”right-to-left”]Morning Yoga at the campsite
We greet the sun with a yoga session by Matteo Michelini. Moving between the different Asanas, we will face Pranayama exercises and meditation, ending with a deep relaxation.
To regenerate for an intense day to come![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css_animation=”right-to-left”]
