The Social Camp, horizontal lab by Borgofuturo, will be returning from the 3rd to the 7th of July. We will meet for 5 days in Val di Fiastra, camping together and using the space to play, learn, get to know each other, and create. This year’s theme is "sfrontatezze", an (untranslatable) word that we are interpreting first and foremost as an attitude of rebellion, but also as a constructive action, and a reflection. We will use the time together to ask ourselves what is considered normal in our worlds, what we want to change, and how to move across the borders and fortresses of prevailing systems. We will explore three themes: work, territory, and relations, through a mix of artistic and theoretical approaches. As always, in the spirit of conviviality and community.

Days by theme

WORK

What is the value given to work in today’s society? During the day dedicated to the theme of work we will explore the oppressions of the (re)productive system, we will imagine new ideas of work through a feminist lens, we will speak about rest, and last but not least we will invite those who want to take a nap.

TERRITORY

During this day we will explore dynamics of mapping, reappropriation, defence and management of disused and contested territories. After a moment of horizontal sharing on terminology and concepts, the collectives we have invited will share theories and practices of their work, during three parallel sessions.

RELATIONS

On the day dedicated to relations we will analyse and challenge daily fortresses in interpersonal, intercultural, and interspecies relations. After a world café session where we will share terms and concepts that will be used in the parallel sessions, we will start from experiential practices before addressing the different topics with the invited guests.

Estate 2020

All’interno del festival BF+, i Tavoli Territoriali ospitano discussioni su idee, criticità e proposte relative ai vettori di rigenerazione individuati.

PARTICIPATION FEE

The Social Camp is self-funded and is completely organized by a team of volunteers. If you would like to support this project, you can offer a higher contribution. This will enable people who cannot afford it to also participate.

To confirm your registration, please make the payment within the specified range of fees between 90€ and 120€

The fee includes:
camping space (bring your own tent and sleeping gear)
vegan meals (from Wednesday’s dinner, to Sunday’s breakfast)
Participation in all Camp activities

Not included in the fee (please bring cash):
- Personal purchases at the village's bars and shops
- Alcoholic beverages

The fee covers approximately half of the camp costs: food, campsite fees, a token fee for the kitchen coordinator, logistics expenses, petrol for people giving lifts, our communication materials, travel costs for our workshop givers, and workshop materials.
The other half of the Camp’s funding comes from our Yoppeleyeppe, fundraising events in the Marche region, Brussels, and Barcelona.

Why include a sliding scale? We operate on the principle of a "solidarity sliding scale" to make the camp more accessible to more people, while ensuring our costs are covered.
Please get in touch if you’d like to attend but the fee is an obstacle and we can work to find a solution. And if you feel you’d like to contribute more, that is also possible.

For any doubts or questions you can write us at borgofuturo.socialcamp@gmail.com.

What is the Social Camp?

The Social Camp started in 2017 in Val di Fiastra, in the region of Marche, as part of the Borgofuturo Festival. It is an experiment in horizontal and collaborative learning, with a residential format. It offers a space to re-imagine our relation to the territory and to each other, in the context of an inner area that confronts us with unique challenges and opportunities.

The Social Camp addresses the themes of conviviality and sustainability on the same “village scale” that characterizes the Borgofuturo Festival. Yet it does so in a more intimate, participatory, and reflective form. It is a space where we share knowledge and experiences, while also sharing the mundane tasks of everyday routine. The Camp is a self-organised and self-financed event. Its content and methodologies are the result of the collaborative work of a group of people that grows every year. This group shares curiosity, research interests and experimentation on topics such as socio-ecological sustainability, horizontal participation and direct experience.
